Wow! I'm so glad for the great response! I'm calling it "AG Hugs", and the site is under way.
Annika- Thank you so much for sharing that story; let's make them out first project! What a great idea to include her sister- it must be so hard on her as well. Do you think Bitty Twins , or Bitty Babies for them both would be better? IMO, Bitty Baby's clothes are much cuter and have a wider variety, but as you've had contact with them, let me know which you think would be better.
OK, so I can see that we've got lots of support- this is fantastic.
Gomunk- It's great to have a seamstress among us! Those jeans are super cute- looks like when we find a girl for an AGT, she'll have some nifty jeans!
So right now we need fundraising ideas; I think that will be our biggest challenge. We also need to find girls who could use our help. The site will have an address to send checks to, as well as a Paypal link for donations, and a form to fill out if you know of anyone.
So anyone have fundraising ideas? The more ideas the better.

To begin with, I would post on all the AG and doll collecting sites any of us belong to with a link to the site and see if we can't just get people to donate. If you can do a banner we can put in posts that links to the site that would be great.
Emailing people with doll sites-- sites that sell things for AGs, reborning sites, anything to do with dolls-- and asking if they would put a banner on their site might help.
Perhaps we could get a couple of super cute OOAK outfits donated by people who sew and do some sort of contest-- set a time frame like two weeks and randomly draw from all the people who donate in that time for a winner for the outfit or highest donation in the time period. (I'm partial to contests that give everyone a chance to win as I like kids who donate their allowance to have equal chance with adults who are able to doante larger sums but that is just me.)
I completely agree that the BB clothes are cuter than BT but I was thinking the girls would like the twins' hair. Rebekah had long brown hair and bangs before chemo and her sister looks almost exactly like her (they are now 4 and 2). But if we do any outfits to go with the dolls I would pick from BB clothes-- they dolls are the same size and can wear each other's clothes. I think the parents would prefer the BB clothes as well. I will make a couple outfits for their dolls. Maybe someone could make a blanket or quilt for each doll? Or contribute a hair care kit for them to share?
I'm so excited about this! I'm sure they'll love the dolls and it will be so nice for the girls to get such a special treat. The only new toys they've gotten since the diagnosis have been donated to the family.

I forgot that Bitty Twins could wear Bitty Baby Outfits- that's perfect. The twins' hair is very neat.
I love your ideas! I'm working on a banner and the site right now; I'll try to get it done as soon as possible.
So right now we need to decide the following things:
1) What we can give make/buy for a prize(s) for our drawing from people who donate.
2) What exactly we can get these girls. (And Annika, which Bitty Twins- the brunette boy and girl, boys, or girls?) We'll probably have to wait until we get all out monitary donations, and any outfits people make.
3) How long we want to take donations, etc. Two weeks, perhaps?
ETA: What sections do we want on the site?

If I can sew for the regular AG sized dolls, I'll be happy to make something, too. Also, if we wanted to do an auction as a fund raiser, I would make a OAK outfit and FIMO food to go with it. Right now I'm interested in making kimonos but I can also make Felicity gowns or clothes for any of the other periods. I have all the AG patterns and all the Vogue 18 inch patterns to use as a base.

Oh! Auction fundraisers are a great idea! eBay has special rules for chairty fundraiser auctions so we can follow those guidelines and that will create lots of exposure!
On the site: I would like to see a general info section; a things we need section (donated office supplies if needed, new doll clothes, etc); a section for donating; a section for recommending girls in need of dolls; and a section for thank yous and reports on the dolls that have been given out.
I think two brunette girls would be ideal. Little sister always wants to do exactly what big sister does and I think she would like a matching doll. Plus, they look like the girls.
I will work on some outfits that can be given to girls with their dolls as well as some special outfits that would appeal more to collectors that could be used for fundraising.
Great work, Lindsey!

That will be great, Annika! and thanks for the site sections...if anyone has any other suggestions for that, let me know.
How about that motto "Dolls that make a difference..."? Or any other suggestions?

I would love to help. My concern is how to be sure that it is a legitimate charity, that people who are really going through hard times actually get the dolls and clothing. I'm not doubting anyone on this boards integrity or intentions, but the beneficiaries of a lot of people's hard work.
